What Is Reiki?
The best way to understand Reiki is to experience it for yourself. The word Reiki itself is a combination of two words: "Rei",meaning Higher Wisdom and "Ki", meaning Lifeforce Energy. Reiki originated in Japan and was developed and taught by Master Usui Mikao as a modality of healing and relaxation. It's believed that when a person's life energy was low, that person could find it more difficult to deal with stress and eventually become more susceptible to illness. Reiki is a technique that increases a person's supply of life energy.
What You could expect during a Reiki session:
Each Reiki session is different for different people as each session will be different from your last. While the client is lying fully clothed on a massage table, the Reiki practitioner will place his or her hands at or above key locations around the head, shoulders, arms, abdomen, legs, and feet. No skin and muscles are manipulated or massaged. The practitioners hands are simply held at each key location of the body as the Reiki energy flows through the practitioner and into the client's body and energy field. During a Reiki session some clients sense a warm glowing radiance within and surrounding their bodies. Afterwards most clients report a deep sense of relaxation, well-being, and peace.
